Jeep Safari

Helpful answers
Desert safari FAQs.
Camel or jeep safari — which is better?
Both are worthwhile. Camel is slower and more traditional — great for photography and families. Jeep covers more ground and suits those with mobility limitations. Many guests do both in one evening.
How far are Sam Sand Dunes from Jaisalmer?
About 45 km west of the city — roughly 1 hour by private vehicle. RUDVO arranges pickup from your hotel and drop-off after the programme.
What time should I go for the best experience?
Late afternoon departure (around 3–4 PM) lets you arrive in time for golden hour and the full sunset. RUDVO will advise the exact timing based on season.
Is it suitable for children and seniors?
Camel safaris are gentle and suitable for most ages. Let RUDVO know the ages and any mobility requirements when you enquire and we will suggest the best options.
What should I wear for a desert safari?
Light, comfortable clothing in natural fabrics. Closed shoes or sandals with straps. A light jacket or shawl for the evening — the desert cools quickly after sunset, especially from October to February.
Can I do a desert safari without staying overnight?
Yes. The same-day Evening on the Dunes experience includes transfer, safari, folk evening and dinner. You return to your Jaisalmer hotel the same night.
Is photography allowed during the safari?
Yes. The desert landscape is extraordinary for photography, especially during golden hour. RUDVO can arrange for a photography-focused itinerary if requested.
